My father was buried here in 2015. About four months after his headstone placement they must have driven over it to dig another grave. This caused the head stone to be lifted out of the ground on the one side and dug in on the other plus cracks and chips in the corner.

We spoke with them and they assured us it would be taken care of, they placed a marker by the site to indicate it needed attention. It is now 2017 and they removed the marker but the headstone is still in the same condition. We have spoken to them at least 4 times and my other family members have as well. When we talk to them or call them they are very apologetic and promise to fix it, but then nothing ever happens.

If you truly care about your loved ones you will lay them to rest somewhere that cares, and that is certainly not White Chapel Memorial.

Beautiful cemetery!!!! My family is here but for one the hours suck as I am not able to really ever make it up here as I am at work from 8 to 5 and I work Saturdays too so not sure when I can make it up. And what cemetery is closed on Sundays???? Also I see many plots that are ran over and sunk in, when I come out I clean and I mean really clean around the plots. They are doing so much to the building in the front that they should be putting more time into the plots looking presentable. I have no problem cleaning the plot but some people's plot are turned, completely grown over, and some don't have any family to come clean them. It is a beautiful quiet place but the hours really need to change and some commonsense cleaning

My concern is that the upkeep of the markers is basically nonexistent. Many markers are covered in dirt or sod. My parents and grandparents are buried there, and when I lived in MI I went every spring to cut the sod around their markers and wash the markers. I have moved 1200 miles away, and hadn't been there for several years. We took our friend and came equipped with tools. Several of my family's markers were completely covered. One of them was so covered over that we couldn't find it at first. It just was so sad to think that, besides my family, so many people's markers are covered and unkempt. so instead of standing and reflecting on our loved ones, we spent 3 hours clearing around their grave markers. We took out two bags of sod trimmings. We hauled four jugs of water over to clean off the markers after all that. To be honest, now that I am back home, it breaks my heart every time I think of my parents graves disappearing for lack of care because I am so far away. I did call the cemetery and the person that took my call was very nice, and understanding. She said she would certainly pass my concern along.Update 1 yr later: Now I know my concerns were ignored....
UPDATE ONE YEAR LATER...went back to MI to visit the cemetery. My grandparents and parents markers were completely overgrown to the point that two of the markers were not visible AT ALL. It is absolutely shameful for a cemetery to treat families like this. The flat markers are expensive. The cheapest is several thousand dollars. The price includes "perpetual care and upkeep.". Thats a sad joke. There is no upkeep of markers at all. Do you know how many veterans markers are completely overgrown? Its disgraceful.

A simple google search reveals a summary of the cemetery's hours which are basically 8am - 6pm. We saw no need to go directly to the cemetery's website which lists 8am - 5pm hours after September. We understand the abbreviated hours in the Fall and Winter and have no problem with that but since it's not listed within the google search page summary we were unaware until a cemetery employee approached us as we were getting settled to honor someones memory. He was somewhat rude, referring to me as "buddy" when I told him we would be just a couple minutes to pick up our things and leave. "No you have to leave right now, buddy, or else you'll be trespassing". Thanks for the warning, "Buddy", but try to remember that some people are in a heightened emotional state when visiting those they've lost, okay "buddy"?

My family members rest there. I went there yesterday for Easter. I am appalled at the conditions of the grounds. Markers covered in leaves and grass not cut down to reveal markers. I saw somebodys marker pushed into the ground at a angle as if a dump truck drove across it during spring thaw. Not more than 4 feet from where my family plots are. I will be contacting management and compain on everyones behalf. Trash and debris spewed everywhere. White chapel should be ashamed of themselves. The last i checked white chapel was in troy, not downtown detroit... act like it....
